Danielle Bandeira de Mello Delgado has been a STEM professional for 22 years. She is an electrical engineer, lawyer, holds a teaching degree in professional and technological education, and is a master and Ph.D. in Renewable Energy.
A senior member of IEEE, she is currently the WIE coordinator in Region 9 and a member of the PES. She worked as an electrical engineer in the petrochemical industry for eight years and is now a professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Bahia, Brazil, where she teaches, researches, and engages in outreach and innovation in Power Systems.
Throughout her career, she has inspired other women to pursue careers in STEM, demonstrating that barriers can be broken. She mentors women and girls, helping them develop the confidence and technical skills needed to thrive in male-dominated fields. She contributes new ideas, research, and innovations, helping to advance knowledge and technology, always with a focus on finding innovative solutions to complex challenges.
In leadership roles, Danielle has consistently worked to create a culture of inclusion and diversity, promoting policies that support gender equity and encourage female participation at all levels of STEM. She is committed to reshaping society’s expectations of what women can achieve in STEM. Danielle is also involved in educational and scientific outreach projects for girls, especially in underrepresented communities, opening doors for new generations of women in science and technology.
