KALPANA CHAWLA MEMORIAL LECTURE

The WIE wing of IEEE – SJCE is set to host the Kalpana Chawla Memorial Lecture. The talk will focus on the topic of “Challenges Faced in the Chandrayaan-3 Mission.” The talk will be presented by Mrs. Roopa M.V. an exceptional scientist and Deputy General Manager of the Spacecraft Operations Area at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). With a notable background and proficiency in spacecraft design, development, testing and operations, she has played a pivotal role in key ISRO projects, including Chandrayaan-3, SCATSAT Satellite, Chandrayaan-2 Lander and Rover, CARTOSAT-3 Satellite and Oceansat-2 Satellite. Mrs. Roopa M.V. graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering in Mysuru. Subsequently, she obtained a Master’s degree from SJCIT in Chickballapur. Delving into the heart of the lecture, Mrs. Roopa M.V. will candidly address the challenges faced during the Chandrayaan-3 Mission. These challenges will span a spectrum of technical, logistical and scientific hurdles, underscoring the inherent complexities of lunar exploration. The Kalpana Chawla Memorial Lecture featuring Mrs. Roopa M.V. will provide a valuable opportunity for the audience to gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges encountered during the Chandrayaan-3 Mission. The event will not only honour the legacy of Kalpana Chawla but will also celebrate the dedication and expertise of individuals like Mrs. Roopa M.V. who will continue to contribute significantly to India’s space exploration endeavours.
