The Seattle area has a long history of innovation in ultrasound products and technologies. In this talk Kendall R. Waters will highlight selected medical ultrasound developments past and present and take a peek at future opportunities. – Past: Seattle-area innovators have made contributions to medical ultrasound for many decades. – Present: Recent advances span a wide range of technologies, including materials and process engineering, imaging algorithms, and hardware architectures. – Future: Medical ultrasound is expected to leverage core and adjacent technologies to expand the types of users as well as types of clinical applications.
