Happy November, WIE Community!
I am delighted to share some wonderful news as we continue to celebrate and strengthen our global Women in Engineering network.
First, please join me in congratulating Simay Akar Koehler, our 2026 IEEE Women in Engineering Chair-Elect (pending acceptance of the IEEE Tellers Committee), and Vanessa Batista Schramm, our newly elected 2026 IEEE WIE Treasurer. We look forward to their leadership, dedication, and passion for advancing WIE’s mission worldwide.
I would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Neeli Prasad, our current WIE Treasurer, for her outstanding dedication and many years of service. Her commitment and leadership have been instrumental in supporting WIE’s global programs and strengthening our community. We are deeply grateful for her contributions.
I would also like to highlight several recent WIE engagements across IEEE conferences—reflecting our growing visibility, influence, and impact:
At the IEEE International Symposium on Emerging Metaverse (ISEMV) (19–20 October 2025, Honolulu, Hawaii), we were proudly represented by Noor Sameera Jannatun, a student member, and Quynh Tran, IEEE Hawaii Section Secretary.
I had the privilege of delivering the welcome remarks at:
- The 2025 WIE Chinese Leadership Summit (9 November 2025).
- The IEEE 11th World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT) (28 October 2025, Chengdu, China) hosted a dedicated WIE Forum showcasing women leaders shaping the future of IoT.
- At the IEEE WIE Forum USA East (6–8 November 2025), I participated virtually in the Meet-and-Greet event, where it was inspiring to connect with many dedicated WIE volunteers and members.

Across all these events, our community continues to shine—supporting conferences, elevating women’s voices, and building opportunities for leadership, collaboration, and visibility.
Thank you for everything you do to make our WIE community so vibrant and impactful.
Let’s continue to uplift, empower, and inspire one another as we move into the final months of the year.
Best regards,
Dr. Winnie Ye
