Dear IEEE WIE Community,

In last month’s newsletter, I shared highlights from our 2026 IEEE Women in Engineering face-to-face Committee meeting in Bangkok. I would like to take a moment to build on that update and reflect on how those discussions are shaping our path forward.
Bringing together 32 members of our global leadership team created a truly valuable space not only for reflection but also for deeper engagement across our subcommittees and regional representatives.

WIE Face to Face Bangkok -Winnie Ye, Antonio Luque, Mary Ellen Randall, Drew Lowery

Beyond the panel discussion with IEEE leadership, including IEEE President Mary Ellen Randall, IEEE MGA VP Drew Lowery, and IEEE MGA Past VP Antonio Luque, we continued with in-depth, face-to-face discussions on committee priorities, ongoing initiatives, and opportunities to further strengthen WIE’s global impact.

One of the most important outcomes of this meeting is that the ideas, feedback, and perspectives shared are now forming the foundation of our WIE Strategic Roadmap for 2027–2030. The engagement and contributions from across our community are directly shaping the direction we will take in the coming years.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of our volunteers. It was truly inspiring to meet so many of you in person and to witness the passion, dedication, and collaborative spirit that define our global WIE community. I am also grateful to our hosts from the IEEE Bangkok Section, Somying Thainimit and Natsupa Taengnoi, as well as our IEEE staff (Alicia Tomaszewski, Faith Mercurio and Prachi Jain) for their outstanding support in making this meeting such aFaith Mercurio, Alicia Tomaszewski, Winnie Ye, Prachi Jain. The call for speakers for the 2026 IEEE International Leadership Conference is now open under the theme Evolution: Advancing Leadership Across Generations. The IEEE International Leadership Conference invites dynamic voices to shape the 2026 program for its inaugural global technology conference, taking place in Budapest, Hungary, 3–4 October. If you are leading, innovating, mentoring, building, or reimagining the future of technology and are passionate about developing the next generation of technology leadership, submit a proposal or nominate a speaker.

Celebrate IEEE WIE Day — Start Planning Your Events!

We encourage all WIE Affinity Groups and Student Branch Affinity Groups to start organizing your events, register them in vTools, and create momentum around activities, events, and initiatives that align with this vision.

As we look ahead, I am excited about the opportunities before us. Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more connected, and more impactful IEEE Women in Engineering. I look forward to working with all of you to shape an even better WIE for the future.
