A 2019 Year End Message From Dr. Lisa Lazareck-Asunta,
IEEE WIE Chair 2019-2020
Lisa Lazareck-Asunta, Chair of IEEE WIE Committee 2019-2020
The year has just flown past and I am so proud of the accomplishments WIE has achieved in 2019. This year has been about improving our funding and reporting processes, figuring out what our Affinity Groups need to thrive, building leadership across the globe with our Summits, nurturing Conference attendees and their professional development, and lately – even trialing a new Webinar Series, as a member benefit for our global community.
Our membership has grown, as have our Affinity Groups, and we are seeing more women recognised for their achievements throughout the IEEE. Diversity & Inclusion is coming to the fore of IEEE, and WIE has an opportunity to reframe how gender is discussed – and anticipates continued support and championship from our non-female counterparts to continue conversations, and start new ones. 2020 will be about setting longer term strategies for WIE, and I look forward to sharing those strategies with you. First, some peace and quiet – and I wish you the same, whether in the sunshine or in the snow.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the WIE Committee, Staff, Volunteer Leaders and Members around the world for your tireless efforts for Women In Engineering. With best wishes for a happy and healthy Holiday Season with families and friends.
