IEEE WIE Hosts It's First TechW Event with IEEE Vancouver Section

IEEE Women in Engineering, in partnership with the IEEE Vancouver Section, hosted the inaugural IEEE WIE Tech Powered by Women (TechW) Workshop, 21 September, at Simon Fraser University (SFU) Harbour Centre campus in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  The theme of the workshop was artificial intelligence (AI), which is quickly becoming an important driver of business strategy and is utilized across many industries and business functions, affecting our daily lives, and creating unprecedented efficiencies in productivity.

The workshop was a tremendous success and brought together over 90 attendees from professionals in research, industry, as well as Canada’s most accomplished educational institutions.  The program featured topics to explore the emerging future of AI technology, share success stories and best practices, and discuss opportunities for women in leadership. Special thanks to our sponsors and speakers from Amazon, Microsoft, SAP,Simon Fraser University(SFU), University of British Columbia(UBC), Boeing, IEEE Reliability Society, and many others.  Also, a huge thank you to our gold sponsor, Amazon Vancouver.
