About the Volunteer STEM Portal
Welcome to the IEEE Pre-University Volunteer STEM Portal
Are you an IEEE Volunteer looking to inspire the next generation to choose a STEM career?
Are you looking for lessons or activities that your unit can offer to engage students and enable teachers to bring STEM into their classrooms?
The portal has the resources you are looking for.
Women are underrepresented in STEM fields and these programs are designed specifically for girls to create an understanding of the opportunities that are available to them in engineering and technology. These programs can highlight role models featuring women in STEM and provide experience with hands-on activities to build confidence demonstrating that STEM careers can be for them.
The Women in Engineering (WIE) IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program works with junior high and high schools to create a positive image of engineering careers for girls, and all students. Through a one-to-one interaction between IEEE volunteers and a Student-Teacher Team, STAR creates a technical support network for teachers and a mentoring program for students, invites more girls to pursue an engineering career, as well as promote the endless possibilities that can result from considering engineering as a career option. IEEE WIE wants students to know that math and science are fun, engineering has career options that benefit humanity, and is gender neutral
This portal is for you and the goal is to engage and inspire as many students as possible. Working together, we maximize the strength of our volunteers.

Pre-University Outreach - Star Program
The IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program was developed to address the growing concern that, at a young age, girls are discouraged from careers in mathematics, science, and engineering.
This educational outreach program promotes involvement of IEEE members with local junior high and high schools in order to create a positive image of engineering careers.
Important Requirements: IEEE Activities with Children
IEEE is committed to providing an enriching experience and safe environment for all children who participate in IEEE programs and activities, throughout the myriad of educational programs, STEM projects and related opportunities. If you currently participate in IEEE programs that involve working with children, or plan to do so, you must first visit the IEEE Activities with Children page to complete requirements.
