Jenifer P. Castillo Rodriguez, IEEE WIE Senior Member
Profession: Mechatronics Engineering
How did you first get involved in IEEE Women in Engineering?
Jenifer: I was recruited while I was studying engineering. There were two vibrant women that were part of the IEEE student branch and IEEE WIE and they showed me the benefits of becoming part of this affinity group.
Why did you decide to become an IEEE WIE member?
Jenifer: Because giving back should be part of who we are, and I feel that encouraging, motivating and supporting other women in this career is another way to give back since I have people that have done it for me.
What do you wish other people knew about IEEE WIE?
Jenifer: So many things, but if I must highlight one I must say I wish more women in engineering see the tools and benefits we have to encourage and support each other. We can have an impact in the humanity’s future, but we should do it together and IEEE WIE have the means to help each other.
What is it like to be an IEEE WIE Volunteer, and what do you enjoy about it?
Jenifer: Supporting emerging leaders and talents. Nurturing these vibrant, powerful women and see the results is the best part of the process.
Why do you feel it is important for women to enter into the field of engineering?
Jenifer: Women have courage, passion, attention to details, and we can deliver. If we have the means, we are not afraid to change the world, and the engineering gives you tools to do so.
