Unfolding the path of IEEE WIE SB KDU Sri Lanka

We, the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University put forward our first step in the year 2020 intending to strive for the promotion and betterment of Women Engineers and increase the interest, awareness, and involvement of young females in technical disciplines, especially in the field of Engineering and Computing.
Over the past months, we have been able to lay out our identity through the University. With the help of undergraduates who were interested in volunteering, our first event, the “IEEE WIE Awareness Session” was a success. Marking our first milestone, the session aimed to give KDU undergraduates an idea of ‘What WIE is’ as the organization was newly established in our university. Read full report.
“Women in power, rebuild the world from COVID-19”

One of the key goals of IEEE-WIE NUST PNEC Chapter is to look for new ways to empower students and help equip them with holistic skills that help them to broaden their skillset and to better navigate the harsh world of engineering along with teaching them necessary tools for utilizing those skills for maximum success. With this aim, the chapter held an event with the title “IEEE Day with International speakers” on 6th of October 2020 where four International speakers shared their engineering experience and discussed about their respective topics. Most of the university youth attended the event virtually and learned much from the experiences. Especially female students were motivated by the journey of their fellow speakers and hoped to become a valuable asset in their own fields. IEEE Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa STAR PROJECT REPORT

We aimed to inform high school students about engineering so that they can make conscious choices before university. We aimed for them to foresee whether the engineering profession has a gender and is suitable for their own interests. Our greatest enthusiasm in making this project was to completely eliminate the questions in their minds and guide them when they were most confused. Read full report
