IEEE Student Member
Shannan Thompson is a third year undergraduate Honors Student pursuing Electrical Engineering at Central Michigan University. She has stayed very involved on campus both through the Engineering department and the Honors Program. As both an active member of IEEE and the Student Government Association representative of the Society of Women Engineers, Shannan has taken her studies out of the classroom and embraced the collegiate engineering community at Central Michigan University. The Honors Program has offered many opportunities in which Shannan has fully taken advantage of including being a Teaching Assistant and attending the Global Citizenship Alliance Seminar in Salzburg, Austria as a representative of the program. Shannan strongly believes in the technological advancement of the world. That is why she has studied abroad for a semester in Ireland at the Waterford Institute of Technology and takes every opportunity in which her love of travel and her passion for the engineering world can be combined.
The IEEE Women in Engineering committee takes pleasure in presenting Shannan Thompson as the 2018 recipient of the Frances B. Hugle Scholarship, in recognition of her outstanding academic performance and passion to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Shannan Thompson shares her experience with IEEE and how receiving the scholarship opened doors for her career as an engineer.
