Abstract: In this webinar, we will have a live discussion with Ms. Dorothy Stanley, Member of IEEE Standards Association Board of Governors and Past Chair of IEEE 802.11 Working Group (2018-2024), on her professional career development through her active contribution to standards, her view on work-family balance, and her messages to various IEEE members for their career development in engineering & standards.

Speaker: Dorothy Stanley

Bio: Dorothy is an HPE Fellow in the Office of the CTO at Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. She has been involved in wireless LAN product strategy and standards activities at Aruba since 2005, leading and participating in IEEE 802.11 Working Group,
Wi-Fi Alliance, Wireless Broadband Alliance and Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), standards and industry certification projects.

She served as IEEE 802.11 Working Group (WG) Chair from 2018-2024, having served as IEEE 802.11 WG Vice Chair from 2014-2018.
She chaired Task Group TGmd (IEEE Std 802.11™-2020), TGmc (IEEE 802.11™-2016) and TGmb (IEEE Std 802.11™-2012) and TGv (IEEE Std 802.11v™-2011).
She is a member of the IEEE Standards Association Board of Governors, and has been a member of the IEEE SA Standards Board, chairing the IEEE-SA New Standards Committee for many years.
Dorothy has worked on multiple networking technologies and protocols in both wired and wireless networking.
She is currently the chair of the IEEE 802 Wireless Chairs Standing Committee and the IEEE 802 IETF Standing Committee.

Prior to joining Aruba Networks, Stanley was a Consulting Member of the Technical Staff at Agere Systems for Wavelan products and a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Lucent Technologies and AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Among Dorothy’s awards are 5 patents, a Wi-Fi Alliance Members Achievement Award, and numerous IEEE Standards Association awards. Dorothy holds an MS degree in Applied Mathematics from University of Kentucky.
