Thursday 26th of October the IEEE Lille Student Branch and the Women in engineering affinity group is honored to host Madam Françoise Chombar, CEO and cofounder of semiconductor Melexis for a talk entitled “Innovation and Inclusion: a Yin-Yang?”. Innovation and inclusion are complementary, interdependent and necessary for sustainable business growth. Diversity and inclusion in teams drive innovation and have a positive impact on the economy and society of tomorrow. This is why more diversity is needed in STEM. But what can we do now to make an impact on this? Françoise Chombar is one of the co-founders of the top Belgian semiconductor company Melexis and is currently Chairwoman of Melexis’ Board of Director and was CEA from 2003 to 2021. She is also president of the STEM platform, an organization working with the Flemish government to encourage young people to pursue a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics education. Madam Chombar has a long-term commitment on promoting more gender balance in STEM believing it has a positive impact on society. She received many national and international awards for her career and work. She holds a master’s degree in interpreting in Dutch, English and Spanish from the University of Ghent. This conference is an opportunity for students and professionals to have an insight about the challenges of inclusion in the semi-conductor industry as well as in STEM disciplines and share the experience of a significant actor of the industry.
