Anastassia Gharib is a 2022 IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Voting Committee Member. She is the 2021 Chair of the IEEE WIE Regional Coordinators Subcommittee and a Member of IEEE WIE International Leadership Summits (ILS) and Awards Subcommittees. She is a Past Chair of IEEE WIE Ottawa Section. She is a reviewer for multiple IEEE journals and magazines. Previously, she has been a Chair of IEEE WIE Ottawa, which under her leadership received IEEE WIE Affinity Group of the Year Award, IEEE WIE Canada Group of the Year Award for Large Sections, and IEEE Ottawa Outstanding Affinity Group Award for the first time in the history, all in 2020. She has further been a Secretary and a Vice Chair of IEEE Young Professionals (YP) Ottawa in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
Anastassia’s background is Electrical and Computer Engineering (BSc, MSc, PhD in progress). Her expertise lies in the field of communications engineering including the following areas: clustering algorithms, cognitive radio, distributed learning, information-centric networking, internet of things, remote sensing, resource management, security-by-design, and wireless sensor networks. She is a researcher with Sensor Systems and Internet of Things Laboratory and a contract instructor at Carleton University. She is the winner of the 2019 IEEE Canada WIE Prize and the Teaching Excellence Award at Carleton University.
