On the occasion of International Women’s Day, IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of St. Joseph’s college of Engineering in association with the IEEE Student Branch of SJCE, Chennai, India has successfully conducted a Panel Discussion, “OUT TO WIN” on the topic Women-An Influencer of Society” on March 8, 2022, with Astounding panellists Ms. Sinjini Sengupta (Founder – LIGHTHOUSE, President of WICCI), Ms.Karen Pedersen (IEEE USA President 2017), Ms. Karen Oldhoven(Founder Personal Branding Agency), Dr. Celia Shahnaz (Professor, Department of EEE, BUET2022 IEEE WIE Committee Chair-Elect), Ms. Kathleen Kramer (Director of IEEE region-6 2017 to 2018, Candidate – IEEE 2023 President-Elect IEEE Secretary 2019-21). Read the full report.

 

International Women’s Day Exemplary Contest – June 2022

Collage of videos from the International Women's Day Exemplary Contest.As part of the International Women’s Day Exemplary Contest conducted by ComSoc WICE , IEEE ComSoc SBC MACE in collaboration with IEEE WIE AG MACE and IoT Club MACE organised the first offline event of the year and was named Zigbee on 08 April 2022. The speakers were Ms.Grace Kallingal George, Student Member Representative IEEE WIEC and Mr.Alan John Francis, President, IoT Club MACE.The session started off at 1:30 pm with Ms .Grace sharing her experience while working as the Chairperson of IEEE WIE AG MACE 2021 and her growth through the years of her studies. She spoke about the opportunities for women in communication engineering. Later Mr.Alan took over the session.He shared his knowledge of IoT ,its applications , sensors etc.The participants were familiarised with the Arduino IDE. They were made to do two basic projects and one IoT project using NodeMCU. The hands-on session was really beneficial for the entire participants .The session concluded by 4 pm . Overall the event was a successful one.

Celebrating International Women’s Day – June 2022

Celebrating International Women’s Day flyer.IEEE Stamford University Student Branch along with IEEE Stamford University WIE Student Branch Affinity Group in collaboration with WIE, IEEE Bangladesh Section Successfully hosted a Webinar session titled “International Women’s Day 2022 – Celebrating the success of every woman, every where” virtually as the part of International Women’s Day 2022 event. The session was held on March 09, 2022, at 7:00 PM (GMT +6). We were really honored to have Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz as the Chief Guest of the session. She is a Professor of EEE Department, BUET; SMIEEE; FIEB; 2022 IEEE WIE Committee Chair-Elect; 2021-23 Chair, IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Women in Signal Processing Committee and immediate Past Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section. We were also honored to have Dr. Farahnaaz Feroz who is the Chairman & Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology; Member, Board of Trustees, Stamford University Bangladesh. Dr. Tanbir Ibne Anowar who is the Chairman & Associate of Department of EEE, Stamford University Bangladesh as our guest.of honor and the Branch Counselor of IEEE Stamford University Student Branch Dr. Dilshad Mahjabeen who is an Associate Professor of Stamford University Bangladesh was there as the session moderator. Many faculty members from the Department of EEE, Stamford University Bangladesh were presented at the webinar session as the invited guests.

Then the invited guest Dr. Tanbir Ibne Anowar, Chairman & Associate Professor, Department of EEE, Stamford University Bangladesh showed his gratitude towards the women and their unforgettable contribution. Then our guest of honor Dr. Farahnaaz Feroz, Chairman & Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, Stamford University Bangladesh delivered her speech on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

After the third part of the webinar session, the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET & 2022 IEEE WIE Committee Chair-Elect took over the session. Prof. Dr. Celia delivered some technical talks regarding Women in power, Research opportunities, IEEE membership in different societies, and inspiring our students to engage in research work. She Leads 2022 webinar flyer.IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of St. Joseph’s college of Engineering along with the IEEE Student Branch of SJCE , Chennai, India has successfully conducted a 4-day webinar series, “SHE LEADS’- Empowering Women Together” from 27th January 2022  to 30th January 2022  with astounding speakers  Dr. S. Brindha (Professor at Sri Sairam Engineering College), Ms. Jenifer Castillo Rodriguez (IEEE Region 9 Director-Elect), Ms. Uduak Akpanedet (Graduate Consultant at ITPE Energised) and Ms. Bozenna Pasik Duncan (Professor at the University of Kansas). The webinar session took place through Google Meet platform and 2 sessions got Live streamed in YouTube. The entire series was coordinated by the IEEE WIE SJCE SB Office bearers along with Mr. R.
