Volunteering

Volunteers are an essential part of the IEEE organization, and IEEE WIE offers many ways to get involved.

Local IEEE WIE Affinity Groups

If you are interested in volunteering with IEEE WIE, the best place to get started is with your local Affinity Group.  Volunteer opportunities include coordinating events, mentoring, or serving as an officer.

Locate and join local IEEE WIE Affinity Groups in your area. To contact your local IEEE WIE representative, visit the IEEE Roster and search for your local section to view the officers.  Contact women@ieee.org if you have questions.

If there is no IEEE WIE Affinity Group in your area, you can start a group in your Section or Student Branch.  Learn more about forming a Section or Student Branch Affinity Group.

Pre-University Outreach - Star Program

The IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program was developed to address the growing concern that, at a young age, girls are discouraged from careers in mathematics, science, and engineering.

This educational outreach program promotes involvement of IEEE members with local junior high and high schools in order to create a positive image of engineering careers.
